German Armed Forces:

The new German assault rifle

The new German G95/HK416A8 assault rifles will be delivered to Panzergrenadier Battalion 122 on December 4. Key features include a slim buttstock, modern grip, an M-LOK handguard, and a grooved muzzle device designed for NATO suppressors. These enhancements reflect a significant upgrade over previous test versions.

Tomorrow, the new German assault rifle will arrive: On December 4, 300 G95/HK416A8 rifles from HECKLER & KOCH GmbH in Grafenwöhr will be handed over to Panzergrenadier Battalion 122 as the first unit. Above, we see the final version of the HK416A8 with M-LOK rail without the new main combat sight (ELCAN Specter DR) for the first time in Germany. Incidentally, the German Armed Forces will probably receive 250,000 G95A1 and G95KA1 assault rifles—not just 118,718 as planned. The total volume of the framework agreement is expected to be increased to over €800 million (previously €275 million). It will be interesting to see whether they will ultimately need several times that amount.

A brief overview by Chris Schmitz of the new HK416 Variant selected as by the German Armed forces:

Bundeswehr_G95_final_Details

1. The classic 416 Slim-Line Buttstock is chosen, now including a QD tab. The previously discussed spec had the heavy version with variable cheek weld, this was gladly dropped in the final version.

2. A steep grip with internal storage is used. The initially discussed "flat, ancient G3 style" grip was abandoned for a modern grip concept.

3. A new MLOK "long" Handguard including metal QD tabs is used. The previously trialed HKey iterations were abandoned. Note the Gas regulator cutout.

4. Magpul M-LOK Handstop-Kit is included, its very affordable and proven, why not.

5. Grooved HK tri prong muzzle device. The grooved version is specificially designed to be used with NATO muzzle device compatible surpressors, such as available from B&T. The grooves make it easier to remove if full of soot.

All changes are really A+ choices, an excellent version of the rifle compared to the "initial" test versions. ALL INFORMATION about the new G95 directly from the German Armed Forces.
