REVIEW:

AKILA ACSR700 Chassis

07/10/2025

In the detailed article series of our friend MAJOR FINDING about the straight-pull repeater RS 700 from the Austrian company STRASSER, you have already gained a solid insight into the manufacturing of the rifle as well as the factory-offered configurations.

As an ambitious sport / precision or long-range shooter, you usually want to adapt your rifle to your respective needs, and thanks to the compatibility of the RS 700 with the Remington 700 footprint, there is a wealth of options available.

In the previous article of this series, you found a list of known and proven manufacturers of rifle chassis and could see that you don’t always have to look far to find high-quality high-end equipment. The manufacturer AKILA, based in Slovenia, for example, has been producing technically refined chassis for Blaser, Beretta, or Tikka, as well as for Remington 700 systems with “short action” for many years.

For this article, the company AKILA provided an “ACSR 700” chassis so that you can not only see the product itself but also review a complete setup and subsequently share practical experiences with it.

Online Configurator

Through the website of AKILA, the chassis can be configured individually and ordered immediately. The ACSR 700 is a drop-in chassis for Remington 700 systems with “short action” that works with AICS-compatible magazines. Basically, you only need to connect the chassis to the system with two screws and it can be used right away.

For some rifles, it may be necessary to bed the system in resin to ensure a perfect fit – however, this also depends on the manufacturing tolerances of the respective product. The likelihood that minor adjustments need to be made to a chassis can never be completely ruled out, regardless of which manufacturer the chassis or rifle comes from.

Processing and Technical Details

The main body of the ACSR700 is made from a 6082 T6 aluminum block and has a black, hard-anodized surface. Above the pistol grip, there are QD sling swivel sockets on both the right and left sides, and AR-15 compatible grips can be used as the grip component.

Furthermore, there is a Picatinny rail under the middle cover, which can be used to attach additional equipment.

In addition to the current setups of the rifle, we have decided on a Picatinny / ARCA adapter from Leofoto, as the rifle is currently most often used in combination with a tripod. The fittings (grip, middle cover, cheek piece, side parts of the stock) are available in walnut wood, polymer (plastic), or composite materials (carbon).

For the fore-end, you can choose between two different designs:

The “Foreend Lite” was manufactured with maximum functionality and weight optimization and features M-LOK interfaces on all 5 sides – or on 8 sides if the bridge is also used.

The “ARCA” fore-end is equipped with M-LOK interfaces at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions, and at the 6 o'clock position, it features a combined ARCA / M-LOK rail. Additionally, both fore-ends have QD sling swivel sockets at the front, at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions of the fore-end. Furthermore, the generous dimensions of both fore-ends also provide enough space for heavy barrels.

As for the stock or buttstock, there are two options to choose from: the “Buttstock Lite” and the “Buttstock M”. Both are made from 7075 T651 aluminum and, like the main body, also feature a black, hard-anodized surface. Regarding the adjustment of length and comb height, both models offer the same ergonomic adjustment options and both also have two QD sling swivel sockets.

The biggest difference between the “Buttstock Lite” and the “Buttstock M” is that the “M” has an integrated, quickly deployable, and finely adjustable monopod.

The “Lite,” in contrast, has an M-LOK interface to which you can attach your individual equipment such as a monopod or bag rider.

And as an additional option, the stock can also be equipped with a folding mechanism. This reduces the overall length of the rifle for transport, thereby allowing the use of a shorter case.

Conclusion

With the ACSR700 from AKILA, you can take your Strasser RS 700 (or any compatible rifles) to the next level and perfectly adapt them to your ergonomic needs. The quality and craftsmanship are top-notch – and are on par with overseas manufacturers.

Especially now, when it is uncertain what tariffs you might face on your next order, it is even more important to support local manufacturers.

We are more than satisfied with the ACSR700 and look forward to sharing our experiences with this setup with you in the future.
