Busch PROtective:

The FBI selects the AMP-1 X helmet

06/03/2025By Redaktion

Busch PROtective is proud to announce that its newest lightweight ballistic helmet, the AMP-1 X, has been selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as the primary protective ballistic helmet for all federal agents within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The five-year Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement may also be utilised by other DOJ agencies, including the United States Marshals Service (USMS) and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Following its 2019 award from the DEA, this back-to-back selection by the U.S. Department of Justice highlights the premium ballistic capabilities Busch PROtective continues to deliver to the law enforcement market.

“Within six months of being awarded the original 2019 DEA-FBI ballistic helmet contract, we had already shifted our R&D focus toward perfecting the next-generation head-borne ecosystem. By working with and understanding the varying needs of numerous federal and local law enforcement agencies, we were able to create this next-gen product – the AMP-1 X,” said Edwin Busch, CEO of Busch PROtective.

The AMP-1 X helmet system is engineered specifically for law enforcement and public safety agencies. The AMP-1 X, weighting only 1,5 kg, features a no-drill-through attachment system and offers a perfectly balanced ratio of ballistic protection to weight and comfort. The AMP-1 X has successfully passed the updated DEA-FBI Ballistic Helmet Protocol 2024, issued by the FBI’s Ballistic Research Facility (BRF), VPAM HVN 2009, NIJ Level IIIA testing, and the ASTM HG2 (modified) standard.

David Jones, Vice President of Federal Solutions at Busch PROtective USA, described the development process:
“We spoke with numerous high-performing teams, all with unique public safety missions, to create a world-class helmet system that offers unparalleled safety and comfort. The overwhelming feedback is that we absolutely achieved that with the AMP-1 X,”
