REVIEW: Nitecore P20i flashlight

11/26/2021By Redaktion

It's always good to have a flashlight with you. Preferably with the option for battery operation or with a rechargeable battery. And of course, it should be bright too. The P20i from Nitecore seems to meet these requirements, let's take a closer look.

The P20i is quite compact. Waterproof according to IP68 and equipped with a simple tail switch, it is very easy to operate.

It is powered by a rechargeable battery and the P20i is charged via USB-C.

The appropriate cable is included in the delivery, but also an adapter to operate the P20i with two CR123A batteries. Additionally, a plastic holster and a lanyard are included, so it's a worry-free package.

With battery and belt clip, the P20i weighs a comfortable 199 grams, making it perfect to always have with you.

This 4,000 mAh battery provides the necessary energy for the P20i.

How long does the battery last? It depends on the brightness level, but you can find the desired information in the table above.

The operation is done through the intuitively designed tail switch. Actually, there are two switches, the main switch in the form of a knob and the flat MODE switch.

By pressing the MODE switch, you can either change the lighting mode or activate the strobe mode.

In our video, the operation is clearly visible. The button layout is simple and intuitive with the P20i. The video also shows you the differences in brightness levels.

What we like is that the P20i always starts shining at maximum brightness when you activate it. Of course, it depends on the intended use, but for tactical use and to deter people, this is the perfect way.

A small battery status LED always lets you know how the battery is doing. As soon as you activate the P20i, the LED also lights up and immediately goes out when turned off. So, no need to worry about a revealing blue light.

The lamp head, or crown, of the P20i is equipped with ceramic glass breaker beads in case you ever need to break a window for rescue purposes.

CONCLUSION: The P20i from Nitecore is a very functional and well-designed EDC flashlight. The features are more oriented towards tactical/police use, and for that purpose, it is excellent. Thanks to the included, useful accessories, there should be something for everyone. We find the price-performance ratio very fair for the P20i.

The P20i is available directly from Nitecore for 97.95 Euros.
