They have him, they don't have him ... Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi

06/16/2017By Redaktion

It's like with daisies: take a leaf and then count down: "He loves me, he loves me not..." The talk, however, is about Caliph Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi. Even he was aware that the title in the job description already had a short lifespan. Now it is the Russian Ministry of Defense that claims it may have brought Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi to a rendezvous with 72 virgins and earned the Americans' bounty - 25 million dollars.

As the Russian Ministry of Defense announced this morning, information is currently being verified indicating that the leader of the so-called Islamic State (IS) was killed by a Russian airstrike south of the Syrian city of Raqqa. The incident is said to have occurred on May 28.

“Following a verified information received by various channels, the ISIS [IS] leader Ibrahim Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed as a result of the airstrike, was present at this meeting,” the Ministry said in a statement. And further: “As a result of the air strikes with Su-35 and Su-34 aircraft, high-ranking members of the terror group belonging to the so-called IS military council were killed, as were about 30 mid-level field commanders and up to 300 of his personal bodyguards.”

The information is not yet verified. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has also stated that the reports must be verified.

Abu-Bakr al-Baghdadi has been declared dead multiple times. Until final confirmation, we recommend daisies: "He loves me, he loves me not..."
