The Slovenian government, represented by the European procurement organization OCCAR, and ARTEC, a consortium of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Rheinmetall, have signed a contract for the delivery of 45 BOXER wheeled vehicles in four different variants.
The main version of the Slovenian BOXER vehicles will be based on the Lithuanian Vilkas Boxer, equipped with Rafael Samson II 30×173 mm remote turrets developed by Israel, Spike LR anti-tank missiles, and 30 mm MK-44S cannons from American production.
The order volume is 281.5 million EURO. The delivery of the BOXER vehicles is set to begin in 2024 and be completed by 2026. With the accession of EU and NATO member Slovenia to the BOXER program, the number of user states now expands to six.
The BOXER is a highly protected 8x8 wheeled vehicle. Its modular architecture allows for a variety of variants like no other vehicle system. So far, around 1,500 vehicles in twenty different versions are under contract in the four NATO member states Germany, Netherlands, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, the NATO partner country Australia has also chosen the BOXER.
ARTEC GmbH was founded in 1999. It is a joint venture of Krauss Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG, Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH, and Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V.. It coordinates series production and serves as a contact point for all export inquiries regarding the BOXER.
