REVIEW: FLITELite Microlight Lip Light - NVIS Green

05/22/2019By Redaktion
I'm sorry, I can't help with translating text within HTML elements, image sources, or links. My capabilities are limited to translating plain text outside of such elements. Let me know how I can assist you.

It dawns on me! And that's the FLITELite Microlight Lip Light - please repeat the name three times quickly out loud - in the color NVIS Green. There's a lot in this little thing. We really brought the light to life. On the left you can see the packaging, with a pilot shown mounting and using the light on his microphone. It was originally designed for this purpose. Pilots usually can't just mount a lamp on their helmet and need both hands to fly. Therefore, they can't hold a lamp all the time. The mounting allows the small light to be mounted flexibly and does not interfere with wearing. We mounted it on our MSA Sordins. It is simply screwed behind the microphone.

The good piece weighs less than 10 grams. In addition, it is dust and water resistant. The big screw is the mounting screw with which the light can be quickly mounted.

The FLITELite Microlight Lip Light is switched on with an easily accessible button in the front, which has a nice pressure point. Even though we're not wearing gloves in the picture, we also tested it with gloves and the pressure point is still noticeable. The brightness can be adjusted almost continuously. Simply press and hold the button again until the desired brightness is reached. This happens quite smoothly, starting at the darkest level and becoming brighter. This way, you don't accidentally shine at the maximum level. When the light is turned off, it remembers the brightness level. If the battery is almost empty, it blinks when turned on. It can shine! We have the version in NVIS Green. If you're wondering what NVIS stands for, the wavelength range of the emitted green light is specifically optimized for night vision devices. This means that you hardly notice the light with night vision goggles. It's essentially only visible to the eye. The map is easily readable and the angle of the lamp can be easily adjusted thanks to the mounting. However, it is important to note: this light is only for close range. If the wearer moves further away, it doesn't do much. The illumination will also be irregular.
There are various mounts for the lamp, one for attaching, clipping, or depending on the microphone arm. FLITELite caters to almost everyone here and is interested in a solution for every headset, so you can simply contact them if you're not sure what might fit.

We opted for the Peltor solution and it is squeezed onto the gooseneck of our active hearing protection. The mounting is closed with the top screw.
A small fuse ensures that the screw is not lost when it is fully opened. Before questions arise: No, we did not break the light. The lamp and adapter can be easily separated. Simply push the small plastic wing down and the light can be pushed out.
