STEAMBOW from Austria presented their new PD5 crossbow at ENFORCE TAC 2025. It is still in the prototype stage, but it already looks very promising. You could also say it's the big brother of the company's M10 repeating crossbow.
One notable feature is that the PD5 will use 7.5 inch bolts instead of the 6.3 inch bolts. This means an increased effective range of up to 40 m. The fixed magazine holds up to five bolts.
More power requires more robust components, so steel is used for the cocking arms. Not yet painted here, because it's still a prototype.
To prevent dry firing, the PD5 has a dry fire safety mechanism that prevents cocking the string without bolts. This good piece is still undergoing final tests but is expected to be available in the 2nd quarter of 2025.
