The German-French defense company KNDS is one of the most important industrial partners of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, with around 800 systems in operation or under contract, as well as extensive ammunition deliveries. The company has now opened a subsidiary in Kiev. Operating under the name KNDS Ukraine LLC, it will support cooperation between Ukrainian government agencies, the local defense industry, and KNDS.

With the establishment of KNDS Ukraine, the Ukrainian industry will be enabled to carry out maintenance and repair work on KNDS systems such as Leopard 1 and 2, CAESAR, AMX10 RC, Panzerhaubitze 2000, and the Falkpanzer Gepard, thereby significantly increasing the availability of these systems for operations. Additionally, KNDS and the Ukrainian industry intend to jointly produce 155mm artillery ammunition in Ukraine and manufacture spare parts using state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.

The establishment of KNDS Ukraine LLC is the result of a corresponding German-French government initiative, the main points of which were presented on March 22, 2024, by Defense Ministers Sebastien Lecornu and Boris Pistorius in Berlin.
