Real vs China:

SAFARILAND 6000 Series

06/10/2025By Max

Holsters from SAFARILAND are very popular, especially the 6000 series, and specifically the Model 6354DO for GLOCK 19 with light and red dot. Since this holster is not cheap, many people like to check the second-hand market. But be careful, the Chinese clones are lurking. Today we will show you how to distinguish a clone from the original.

Only real with markings

A first indicator is the lack of the laser-engraved type designation. Don't be surprised, our SAFARILAND holster was MultiCam, but we covered it with PenCott-GreenZone camo fabric so that it matches better with our gear. Style matters, after all.

Otherwise, at first glance, there are no significant differences from the outside. However, on closer inspection, something stands out. The original, on the right in the picture, has exposed Kydex at the mounting area.

Looking from above into the original also reveals why. In the 6000 series, the plastic is rolled like a burrito and is double-layered on the body-facing side. This ensures stability and robustness and is, of course, difficult to produce.

The Chinese have been creative and thought about how to produce this cheaply. The Chinese clone consists of two cast halves. Thanks to the fabric covering, you can't see the seam from the outside. However, viewed from the inside, the gap is very noticeable.

The two halves also do not always fit together quite precisely, as can be seen here. So to summarize, with the original, the material is double-layered and there are laser-engraved markings.

By the way, did you know that the Model 6354DO for GLOCK 19 also fits a GLOCK 17 perfectly? You just need to replace the support block in the lower area. We are currently working on something and will soon offer it to you in our shop.
