There is no more exact language than German, especially when used bureaucratically: "Water, drinking, canned" describes everything that can be said about the water pouches in the image above. We tested the pouch with the life-giving liquid for you.
The drink is produced by Gregor-Chemie GmbH. The drinking water in the pouch has a storage range of -50 to +70 degrees. Repeated freezing and thawing is possible. Minimum shelf life for pouches sold in 2012: 2017. We drank fresh from it this year. We didn't notice anything bad.
The drinking water ration is optimally tailored to self-sufficiency in emergencies and disasters. The safe drinking water rations are mainly used as emergency rations in the Navy and Air Force. Of course, the drinking water rations are also suitable for preparing freeze-dried ready meals/expedition food. The undemanding storage simplifies stocking up for times of emergency when a regular drinking water supply is not guaranteed. Drinking water rations are also used in the military, rescue services, and on life rafts. Above you can see the pouch in which several of the small thirst quenchers are present. The advantage of the small portion in comparison to the large bottle with the huge volume is also clearly recognizable.
CONCLUSION: A very practical invention, because this way you can stock up on water for emergencies. Special forces like to pack two or three of these things, if the backpack needs to be dropped, you always have a first sip on hand.
Available again and again on Ebay.de (for example Outdoorfoodshop - here 500 ml only cost 2.50 euros) or - if you know someone - through the Bundeswehr.
Delicious is only a cool mountain stream, freshly drunk in the morning. But otherwise: Looks like water, tastes like water. We couldn't detect any other flavors.
Special THX to Ronny from Combat Recovery for the tip!
