From September 14th to 17th, 2021, the DSEI 2021 arms fair will take place in London. The theme of this year's edition is "Powering Progress - Defining Your Future". Rheinmetall and the Joint Venture Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) will showcase a portion of their extensive activities and products at booth H5-110. This includes key projects in the redesign of the British Armed Forces:
In November 2019, the British Ministry of Defence commissioned the consortium company Artec GmbH through the European armaments agency OCCAR to deliver the MIV. Artec GmbH is a consortium of Rheinmetall and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The British Army is procuring over 500 Boxer vehicles in variants such as troop carriers, command vehicles, ambulance vehicles, and specialist carriers.
The production of the Boxer was awarded to British companies RBSL and WFEL. RBSL has signed contracts with several other British companies to involve them in the delivery of the vehicles. Welding work began at Rheinmetall in Kassel in early June 2021.
RBSL and Rheinmetall are working closely together to enable knowledge and technology transfer, thus ensuring the production of high-quality Boxers. Rheinmetall and RBSL will begin delivering their vehicles from 2023. A Boxer vehicle is on display at DSEI 2021.
As announced in May 2021, RBSL will modernize a total of 148 Challenger 2 battle tanks to the new Challenger 3 configuration.
This includes a new turret with digital system architecture and Rheinmetall's proven 120mm smoothbore gun L55A1, including state-of-the-art high-explosive and programmable multi-purpose ammunition. The Challenger 3 will be a network-capable, digital combat tank with high lethality and significantly improved survivability in combat situations. Rheinmetall and RBSL will showcase a demonstrator vehicle at DSEI 2021. HERE on SPARTANAT you can find all the information about the modernization.
Additionally, other innovative products will be on display in London, including:
Rheinmetall's new HX3 vehicle generation is characterized by improved protection, increased mobility, higher driving comfort, and a digital interface architecture for even more flexible applications and future performance enhancements.
At the same time, the valued core strengths of the HX2 and family concept are retained. In addition, the HX3 is more than ever suitable as a platform for complex weapon or radar systems. These include truck-based artillery systems, which are expected to become significantly more important in the coming years. The Rheinmetall self-propelled howitzer on a high-mobility HX 10x10 chassis is on display at DSEI 2021. It is equipped with a highly protected cabin and a walkable remotely operated turret. The HX 10x10 will serve as a standard platform for various artillery systems or similar large equipment in the future.
Robotics is already changing the battlefield of the future today. Rheinmetall's armed unmanned vehicle Mission Master SP (Silent Partner) is already being evaluated by the British Armed Forces in the Cargo and Fire Support versions as part of the Robotic Platoon Vehicle Program.
As recently as June 2021, Rheinmetall introduced the new Mission Master family member, Mission Master XT. This AUGV, designed for extreme terrain and high payloads, will be showcased in the UK for the first time.
In addition, Rheinmetall will present its extensive expertise in almost all capability categories at DSEI 2021. This includes weapons and ammunition systems for threat-appropriate and scalable effects, as well as innovative and network-enabled sensors for applications on land, in the air, or at sea. Rheinmetall looks forward to your visit at DSEI 2021 at booth H5-110!
