The security situation in Europe has changed dramatically. Especially counterterrorism poses major challenges for the police. Police forces now require the same highly effective protective equipment as the military. Only in this way can they carry out their mission in the face of acute, so-called asymmetric threats. Therefore, 3M is presenting at the ENFORCE TAC in Germany, among other things, two ballistic head protection systems for increased safety in operations: the 3M Combat II helmet with the highest level of ballistic protection and the extremely light 3M N-Series Ultra Light Weight Ballistic Bump Helmet N49.
Whether it's shrapnel from explosions, such as hand grenades or booby traps, or gunfire from short and long weapons up to caliber 7.62 mm: police officers are exposed to much higher risks in operations nowadays than in the past. Therefore, the operational forces need equipment with the highest possible level of protection - similar to the latest military equipment. The newly available ballistic combat helmets from 3M in Germany are particularly well suited for today's operational scenarios.Highest protection in operations
The 3M Combat II Ballistic Helmet offers the highest level of protection in various danger situations. For example, in shrapnel resistance, the protection against shrapnel is up to 50 percent higher than with previously used standard combat helmets. Its helmet shell is seamlessly made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene composite. This way, ballistic weak spots in the layer structure are avoided. This material also makes the helmets lighter than comparable combat helmets. Another advantage: the optimized design is very compatible with other protective solutions, and the 4-point strapping system and the pad interior provide good shock absorption and stability as well as a high level of comfort. The Combat II has already been delivered over 100 thousand times in the USA. It has proven itself in use by the US Marine Corps and has already saved lives in operations against long weapons fire.
The 3M N-Series Ultra Light Weight Ballistic Bump Helmet N49 is an extremely light tactical operations helmet. This helmet is also made seamlessly from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibers. It reliably protects against bullet impacts and shrapnel and offers very good shock absorption. With its light weight of around 600 grams, it is ideal for all operations where high mobility is required. A flexible rail system also allows operational forces to easily and securely attach all common accessories such as hearing protection caps and other equipment to the helmet.
3M - long-standing partner of government customers
With the Government Markets business unit, 3M has focused on the specific requirements of the military, police, fire department, emergency services, and authorities in the field of internal security. The focus for the defense technology and police equipment sector is on products to protect operational forces.
