REVIEW: TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR LC ZP

04/14/2023By Redaktion

Building up? It's always good. The basis for the new TASMANIAN TIGER ZP Series is their plate carrier with a zipper on the back. That's impressive. Today we want to introduce you to the TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR LC ZP in detail.

Firstly, let's clarify the designation for the new plate carrier: "QR LC ZP". These are all abbreviations, QR stands for "Quick Release", LC stands for "Laser Cut", and ZP stands for "Zipper", so pretty self-explanatory if you want to understand.

This is what the manufacturer says:

  • Compatible with TT exchange panels
  • Front and sides with MOLLE system for individual expansion
  • MOLLE system in laser-cut version
  • Integrated radio pocket
  • Hook-and-loop area front and back (loop)
  • Replaceable side parts for use of pouches for ballistic side plates
  • Shoulder straps adjustable from min. 28 cm to max. 52 cm
  • Length-adjustable, semi-rigid elastic side attachment with MOLLE system in laser-cut version with 5 slots
  • Rigid, 7.5 cm high vertical elastic side attachment
  • Zippers on the back for attachment of compatible panels and packs (ZP Series), 25 cm apart, Vislon type, #10 strength, length 24 cm
  • Includes zipped-on panel (item 7303 TT MOLLE Panel ZP) with MOLLE system in laser-cut version and hydration system preparation

The size of the plate carrier is designed for SAPI plates from 25 x 30 cm up to a maximum of 26 x 33 cm - depending on the thickness of the plates - so size M plates up to size L.

The most important feature: The plate carrier comes with a MOLLE zip-on panel, but we will present that separately to you soon. The zippers on the back are clearly visible, allowing for quick attachment of back modules.

From TASMANIAN TIGER there is already a QR LC plate carrier, which we had already presented to you in detail HERE. Now we want to compare the two to show you all the new features.

The Front

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be a big difference. However, improvements on the front are subtle. The plate carrier in Coyote Brown (usually on the left in the picture) is the new one, and the Khaki/Tan one is the older QR LC version.

One noticeable addition is the Velcro strips for cable management. Simple, but very practical. Another visual detail is that the Tasmanian Tiger logo is now glued instead of embroidered.

New is the loop hidden under the laser-cut MOLLE/PALS. You can attach G-hooks or buckles from the Micro Chestrig or the matching placard here. For those who know exactly what they want on the front, there is plenty of MOLLE/PALS on the front to securely connect pouches to the plate carrier.

The detachable sidewings have remained the same.

There are also no changes at the back, although the black padded mesh fabric looks slightly different.

The cummerbund

The cummerbund holds the front and back together. TASMANIAN TIGER now relies on the improved, reinforced cummerbund (HERE in the review).

TASMANIAN TIGER fit, we will show you in further reviews. Of course, we are interested in compatibility with existing back packs, such as from CRYE. In the picture, the classic Assault Panel from CRYE for the AVS in Multicam Black.

As we already mentioned at the beginning, yes it fits and that is fantastic. Because this way you have the ultimate selection of back panels available to you.

The two zipper halves fit perfectly together, probably because they come from the same quality manufacturer.

If the zipper on the back panel is ever shorter than the one on the plate carrier, don't worry. The YKK zippers are equipped with a lock so that they can only be opened when you operate the zipper pull. This keeps the panel stable on the back.

Fits perfectly on the man, offers wonderful possibilities.

Here is the manufacturer's video about the product.

CONCLUSION: With the new TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR LC ZP, TT is taking it to a new level, allowing you to dive into the world of back panels. All the improvements are very sensible and the new plate carrier is a modular top solution that needs no comparison.

The TASMANIAN TIGER Plate Carrier QR LC ZP is available at all retailers carrying TASMANIAN TIGER starting at 370 €.
