Goodness confirms: new German combat helmet

Rheinmetall has reached another milestone in the delivery of the new combat helmet for the Bundeswehr: the formal qualification of the tactical head protection as well as the quality inspection of the first three delivery batches of the follow-up procurements were successfully completed.

In November 2020, Rheinmetall was initially commissioned by the Bundeswehr with the delivery of a modern combat helmet. The framework contract issued at that time initially provided for the delivery of up to 20,000 units of the model "Combat Helmet Special Forces Heavy". A first call-off of 5,000 helmets was already made in November 2020. The helmets were initially intended primarily for the special and specialized forces with Extended Basic Qualification for Special Operations (EGB forces) as well as for equipping the NATO spearhead VJTF 2023. In March 2022 - in the course of the security policy "turning point" - the Bundeswehr then decided to significantly expand the order. The new helmet model will be the new "Combat Helmet Armed Forces". In total, around 300,000 units were reordered, which will be delivered to the troops in the years 2022-2025. Rheinmetall is working on this project with two strategic partners. The total order volume is greater than 200 million EUR.

The new combat helmets offer improved protection and high wearing comfort - especially with level-dependent hearing protection and night vision devices. This significantly increases the combat power of the infantry soldier. Since 2020, a total of almost 34,000 pieces have already been delivered. By the end of 2022, around another 11,000 pieces will be delivered. The contract was won by Rheinmetall Soldier Electronics from Stockach, which is well connected in the soldier equipment industry as a specialist company for laser-light modules.
