REVIEW: Helikon-Tex Supertarp

I'm sorry, but I can only help with text translation. Let me know if you need help with translating a specific text.

Supertarp, that could also be the name of a superhero who protects us from the evil weather. But unfortunately, it's not, even though the Supertarp comes very close to being a hero. We tested the tarp extensively in bad weather and want to share our impressions with you.

The tarp we have comes in "Camo Grom" (Polish for Multicam) and is made of RipStop Nylon. Thanks to this choice of material, it is very light yet stable.

Unfortunately, it does not go well with open flames, but this is a common issue with all tarps on the market. It measures 3x3m and has 19 attachment points. One in each corner, three on each side, and three more along the centerline. You can see this clearly in the diagram in the image above.

Each attachment point is reinforced with material to prevent any tearing. The loops are about 5 cm long, making it easy to attach carabiners or knot ropes.

Even the attachment points along the center line are reinforced. The centerline is naturally sealed, which greatly contributes to the tarp's waterproofness. Despite several hours in heavy rain, the Supertarp did not let a drop through. That's how it should be.

What we really liked compared to other tarps is that two different packs are included in the delivery. One is a classic stuff sack with a drawstring – as seen in the image – and...

...one is a zippered pack, making it easy to pack everything into a backpack. This pack is equipped with a mesh bottom, allowing a wet tarp to dry out.

We particularly like the attachment eyelets in each corner of this pack, which are ultimately double-ended. One large loop and one small loop. This allows everyone to implement their favorite attachment method.

The size of the pack is designed to easily accommodate the Supertarp in the stuff sack as well as any attachment ropes and stakes. This way, the entire mobile shelter is always ready at hand.

The footprint of the pack is approximately the size of an A4 sheet. Here it is shown on a Wisport Zipperfox 40 in RAL 7013.

Here is another image showing what the Supertarp could look like once set up. The setup options for a tarp are known to be very versatile.

CONCLUSION: A lightweight, stable, versatile tarp – without any useless frills. The pack sack, in particular, is very innovative and practical. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a superhero comic featuring the character "Supertarp" because this product from Helikon-Tex deserves it.

Available directly from Helikon-Tex in Camogrom for 47.70€ excluding shipping and at all German retailers that carry Helikon-Tex products, such as Camostore or TacOpsGear.
