The new Garmin Foretrex 701 - GPS and Ballistics

07/14/2017By Redaktion

Garmin 701BE – sounds like not much at first. Just GPS. However, behind the name is the successor model of the 401 series. What's new about it is that it doesn't just use GPS to determine the position accurately, but also GLONASS and Galileo. This is meant to ensure that an accurate position can be determined in all situations, to navigate correctly. IPX7 waterproof, as well as certified to MIL-STD-810, leave nothing to be desired. With two AAA batteries, this good piece has a battery life of 48 hours in GPS mode, up to a week in UltraTrac mode, and up to a month if you only use the watch.Unfortunately, the image lacks a direct comparison, but it is also thinner than the predecessor model 401.

However, the most important thing about the 701BE are the last two letters. They stand for Ballistic Edition and help the shooter: There is its own engine in the device, with many templates that can be quickly accessed. But it also has the ability to enter your own numbers, to then receive the correct values for the shot.

Unfortunately, the Ballistic Edition comes at a price of $599.99. For those who don't want to calculate anything ballistic on the go, they can also opt for the 601 version, which offers the same – just without the Ballistic Engine – for only $249.99. HERE you can learn more about the devices.
