Fibrotex USA now supplies the US Army.

11/16/2018By Redaktion

Fibrotex USA Inc. has been awarded the contract to supply the next generation Ultra-Light Camouflage Netting System (ULCANS) to the U.S. Army, which provides world-leading protection across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. The contract is a ten-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with a total value of $480 million. Full production is expected to begin in early 2019.

The new ULCANS contract by Fibrotex USA is the result of an almost two-year, highly competitive testing, evaluation, and data collection phase conducted by the Natick Soldier Systems Center of the U.S. Army, which compared camouflage from major global manufacturers with the most advanced battlefield surveillance sensors of the Army.

The battle-proven technologies underlying the new ULCANS are based on technologies developed by parent company Fibrotex Technologies Ltd (FTL) over the past two decades, but have been specifically modified for the U.S. Department of Defense. The ULCANS will be manufactured in a new state-of-the-art facility in McCreary County, Kentucky - the only one of its kind in the U.S. - creating and securing hundreds of new qualified American jobs over the next ten years.

The new facility will be built alongside Outdoor Venture Corporation (OVC), which is a strategic partner of Fibrotex USA and has been providing soldier support systems to the U.S. Army for decades.

Fibrotex's 2D ULCANS technology offers more durable IR, thermal, and anti-radar performance and provides a wider range of features than before. Fibrotex USA will deliver the material in reversible versions - for the first time with different patterns and properties on each side, allowing soldiers, vehicles, and systems to blend into bright/dark forests, snow/alpine terrain, and desert/urban areas in all weather conditions and anywhere in the world.

Other advanced signature management solutions include the 2D Static Camouflage System for critical fixed locations and the Mobile Camouflage Solution, capable of masking mobile platforms from all known visual, thermal IR, and radar sensors without impacting their mobility or capabilities.

The company has also developed the innovative, multispectral, rapidly configurable package "Kit Sophia," allowing forces to flexibly match their protection to a range of threats.

A similar solution, "Kit Noa," has been developed for individual soldier signature management. As a standalone device, the Personal Modular Camouflage System is ready for use in a 2-liter pouch and enhances the soldier's survivability.
