Everything is new in June: Lindnerhof-Taktik introduces the second generation of their highly praised plate carrier LT042. The LT042/2 embodies the company's constant effort to expand its product range while intensifying the use of MX, an innovative, lightweight, multiaxial laminate material developed by the company last year.
The LT042/2 plate carrier differs from the LT042 in several ways. Firstly, it is overall lighter: The LT042/2 weighs a surprisingly light 800 g.
Additionally, the LT042/2 uses slimmer MOLLE webbing that is 20 mm wide, 5 mm less than the 25 mm wide webbing of the first generation.
"The reduced weight and slimmer straps have been achieved without compromising on stability or functionality," says Jakob Kolbeck, managing director of Lindnerhof-Taktik.
According to Kolbeck, the design team was eager to maintain the modularity of classic MOLLE plate carriers with the LT042/2, despite the reduced weight, and to be able to easily use the newly developed model as a heavy loadout carrier.
What sets the LT042/2 apart is its ability to accommodate plates of various sizes. The plate pocket can hold SAPI L size plates, but an integrated plate holder strap also allows for smaller SAPI M or NATO standard plates (25×30) to be attached.
The LT042/2 can also carry a variety of additional equipment, such as breaching tools, radios, and Lindnerhof backpacks. Zippers on the back can be used to attach zipper panels from various manufacturers, particularly those from Lindnerhof, such as the LT632 Zip Panel, specifically designed for transporting breaching tools - as seen in the header image.
There is a section on the front for attaching patches, while inside the carrier there is space for attaching panels and pouches.
Lindnerhof currently produces a range of interior padding types that all fit into the LT042/2.
With three cable attachment points arranged in a row, cable management is reliably organized. These are located on the front plate of the LT042/2 and can be used to secure cables or a drinking tube. Longer cables can also be routed directly through the plate, over three seams that can be separated by the user on the sides and top of the plate pocket (for example, if one of the seams in the middle is split, the radio cable running from a transceiver attached to the hip to the headset can be concealed).
The LT042/2 also features Lindnerhof's patented hook-and-loop system, but in a smaller size. This not only contributes to the lightness of the plate carrier, but also has the advantage of less interfering with the user's weapon system.
"The carrier is highly customizable; the user can decide from mission to mission which configuration is best suited," says Kolbeck.
The LT042/2 plate carrier is available today in initially two colors: Coyote and German 5fb Flecktarn. In the coming weeks, MultiCam, Stone Gray, and Black colors will be added.
