THeMIS to the front: Ground drone in Ukraine.

09/05/2022By Redaktion

Ukraine will soon receive a series of THeMIS UGV platforms for logistics - evacuation of the wounded and transport of ammunition. The first THeMIS - image above - is apparently already in Ukraine, being the first UGVs of the Ukrainian army. THeMIS UGV comes from the Estonian company Milrem Robotics, which developed this platform in 2015. The payload capacity ranges from 750 kg to 1,200 kg. THeMIS can be remotely controlled via a secure radio channel or used autonomously to predetermined points via GPS following a set program, and is equipped with sensors such as TV and thermal cameras and a Lidar. The THeMIS acquisition project was named "Crane" (Журавель), and its initiator is former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko along with the Ukrainian volunteer medical formation "Hospitalers." The project is of course exciting for the manufacturing company, as it gives THeMIS ground drones front-line experience. We are curious to see how they perform in real-world operations. More information on THeMIS UGV.
