REVIEW: Marom Dolphin Fusion System 3 - The Armor

08/13/2021By Redaktion

On the modern battlefield, the infantryman is at least partially bulletproof. Plates in a plate carrier ensure this. We have already explained to you in detail the T-Belt and the carrying system of the MAROM DOLPHIN Fusion Systems. Today we take it a step further and show how easy it is to transform it into a plate carrier with a carrying system using the corresponding front part. Get ready for a very clever solution to a problem that every soldier is familiar with: "How should all the equipment work together in an optimized load-bearing way?"

This is the front side of the MAROM DOLPHIN Fusion Systems. It looks like an ordinary front plate carrier part, and in the end, that's what it is. Enough MOLLE/PALS rows for ammunition pouches and a bulletproof plate held securely in a plate pocket.

The Israelis pamper their soldiers: The back of the plate pocket is fully lined with mesh fabric, which we already know from the carrying system. Comfortable, comfortable…

Through the zipper at the bottom, the man reaches the plate compartment. Here, the plate is securely held by a very wide elastic band and Velcro and can also be quickly replaced. Thanks to this construction, both M and L SAPIs can easily fit in. Other plate formats should also be accommodated.

The buckle of a different kind: This buckle connects the plate compartment to the carrying system.

It simply snaps on. It's almost silent, quick, and easy to do even in the dark. If someone thinks this system has issues with fine sand, we agree. But we also point out: fine sand is a problem for almost any equipment, whether buckles or Velcro. That's why you always have to clean and maintain it.

With two quick movements, the plate compartment is snapped onto the front of the carrying system. The big advantage is that the entire weight of the part is directed through the shoulder straps into the frame and ultimately into the hip belt. This way, you have optimal load distribution, and your spine and shoulders are relieved.

To ensure that the plate sits well in front of your chest, just close the cummerbund. This is done with special buckles from MAROM DOLPHIN, which are very simple and effective.

They can also be quickly released if necessary. A very interesting patent.

This is what the complete MAROM DOLPHIN Fusion System looks like when put on. Basically like a normal plate carrier with battle belt from the front.

From the side, it looks a bit different due to the hydration bladders, compared to all other known systems on the market. But you can see, there is a lot of MOLLE space available for pouches. The hydration bladders are attached to the battle belt with a simple hook so they don't swing around. A nice solution here as well.

On both sides of the battle belt, you'll find a hidden zipper on the underside.

Underneath this is where the adjustment compartment for the battle belt is hidden. This is ultimately solved with a drawstring. After initial skepticism, we must say, it works very well.

We've already shown you the back panel. but here is where the back SAPI plate goes. It's hidden under the large central area.

You access the plate compartment via three buttons.

This is how it looks - fully exposed. The plate is securely held by two tight rubber bands. If these should ever stretch or break, the individual components can be replaced.

On the side facing the body, you'll find a zipped compartment for soft armor. It is executed without further details.

The front is equipped with a zipper for an admin pocket. It's really large, stretching across the entire width and being three MOLLE rows deep. Plenty of space for some snacks if it takes longer than expected.

The front can be folded to the side extremely quickly if you need to take off the MAROM DOLPHIN Fusion System.

In the next and final part, we will show you the backpack and how it interacts with the MAROM DOLPHIN Fusion System.

Here is an older video by MAROM DOLPHIN, which explains the entire system very well.

CONCLUSION: MAROM DOLPHIN has put a lot of thought into the Fusion System. The fusion of Battle Belt, carrying system, and armor is truly unique in this form. Due to the almost direct load transfer to the hips, the Fusion System is surprisingly comfortable even when fully loaded. The modular and quick interchangeability between just the carrying system with weight distribution and the plate carrier is fascinating. Everything is very functional and well padded. As a soldier, you can hardly wish for more.
