What you see here is the traditional Fidget Spinner for men. Long before the small toy parts from Asia, which have since disappeared, this has been around and will continue to be. Originally, it is nothing more than an Asian folding knife that holds the blade between the two parts of the handle. If you are interested in the history of the Balisong - that's what the "Butterfly Knife" is actually called - here is a summary: HERE.
K25 Tactical Knives claims it is designed in Spain. We consider this to be a protective statement. The product range is simply Chinese knives. The box is still pretty though.
The training knife comes with a hip pouch, which will never be used by us. But you can also store the practice Balisong in it quite nicely.
This is the wet dream of the knife clapper. Three parts, all movable and not even a knife, but in this case a fun toy.
What is sharp on other knives is red here. Although there is also a training version with a black blade. The weapons laws of many German-speaking countries do not like Balisongs at all, but the practice part should not be affected as a non-cutting tool. Information on the law in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria also HERE.
We press our thumb firmly on the "blade" to demonstrate, nothing happens. The thing is completely dull. And that's the whole point: those who play with it should not be able to cut themselves. "Ouch" is still possible if the "blade" quickly snaps onto the fingers.
Here are the two handles of the folding knife. It looks very cool in black and red. Note the screws and pins. We would firmly glue the latter, and for the screws, we would also use a special screw fixative that is removable to prevent them from coming loose on their own. Remember: the part will always be in motion and everything will become loose in the process.
View from behind, this is what the practice Balisong looks like when locked.
You can elegantly flip up the lock with your finger. And you can see that the black color of the handles is indeed worn off with practice.
Top view. Inside, there are two metal rods that form a handle, the scales on the right and left are made of pot metal. So, it's more of the cheap version.
In red and black, the K25 Balisong Trainer looks quite valuable. But don't be fooled.
CONCLUSION: We never quite understood the fuss with the butterfly knife as a weapon. Why open and close and all that drama? Well, as we said: this thing is the male Fidget Spinner. A bit of finger play in between, that's quite fun. And for that, the K25 Balisong Trainer is ideal, especially because it is very cheap. You can find numerous tutorials for beginners and advanced users on YouTube under "Learn Balisong".
You can get the K25 Balisong Trainer at your local knife dealer, on Amazon, or Ebay for a price between 15 and 20 euros.
