Sleeping bags are usually not waterproof, so you need a bivouac sack or a Goretex cover if you ever want - or have to - sleep outside in the rain. We have reviewed and tested the Combat model from Carinthia for you. (Click on images to enlarge)
The entire bivouac sack is made of Goretex laminate, weighing only 680g and with a relatively small pack size of 32cm in length and a diameter of ~8cm. A compression sack is included in the delivery. The bivouac sack is closed on the left side and over the chest with a zipper and press studs. A special feature is an integrated insect net at the face opening. This net can also be closed with a zipper.
The sack is a good 2.50m long, so even tall people with a sleeping bag can easily fit inside. The bivouac sack can also be used as an emergency sleeping bag or in the summer as a regular sleeping bag. We tested the sack in combination with the Klymit Inertia X Frame (without an additional sleeping bag) and were very impressed with the sleeping comfort.
CONCLUSION: Carinthia once again delivers a top-class product here. The workmanship and materials used are excellent, but unfortunately the price for the Combat bivouac sack is in the top price range.
Available at carinthia.eu for 460€ excl. shipping
