One of the absolute surprise guests at the IWA this year for us was Gruppa 99 from Russia. They didn't get lost in the tactical Hall 9, but were placed far away in a Russian outdoor pavilion. The picture above was unfortunately not seen there, it comes from the catalog from Gruppa 99, which you can view HERE. In the picture, you can see backpacks from the company and some very nice Kalashnikovs, which would have been out of place in Nuremberg.
On the contrary, the booth was very peaceful, but there was a lot of gear to discover. This is the Level 10 uniform for hot climates. The Archeda field shirt and pants are made from quick-drying Nylon 6 and water repellent. Here in the color "Umber".
Very nice cut, classically functional, and also mesh under the arms for good ventilation.
This Level 10 pants has reinforcement of webbing at the knees. Yes, this is somewhat reminiscent of Arc'teryx LEAF. Not only reminiscent: Gruppa 99 is definitely on the same high level as the quality manufacturer from Canada. Just that it is much less known here - because it comes from Russia.
The L5 Combat Shirt with a set of clothing over it. Gruppa 99 has kept their system in line with the American nomenclature of Protective Combat Uniform (PCU): L1 is underwear and it goes up to Cold Gear with L7.
Multicam is standard, no wonder, it is also often seen with Russian special forces. Or ATACS FG, which is standard for some Spetsnaz. Other available colors for Gruppa 99 gear are Khaki (which reminds us more of a classic Russian brown), the same color in dark is called "Umber". "Aloe" is Ranger Green, "Asphalt" is gray (like Wolf in Arc'teryx LEAF) and "Anthracite" is regular black.
This inconspicuous piece is the T10 back carry. Gruppa 99 also manufactures a comprehensive set of backpacks.
They are modular and T10 is essentially the universal centerpiece. Here is a quick overview of the backpacks from Gruppa 99 from the catalog.
At the Russian booth, we also saw an interesting solution for covertly carrying equipment. On the laser cut MOLLE belt with integrated holster is also the logo of Gruppa 99.
As a systems house, Gruppa 99 also offers their own MCS Chest Rig, which is very classically designed. You can see a removable flap that can be configured individually.
And this is the MCS Plate Carrier, where the flap can also be integrated. Additionally, the viewer can see the modular pouches from Gruppa 99 - on the left an IFAK, next to it AK magazine pouches. HERE you can browse through the current catalog from Gruppa 99.
