KLARUS LIGHTING, the inventor of the professional flashlight with dual switch from China, has been selected as a supplier for authorities in over 58 countries. The company holds a patent for the dual switch at the rear end. Some of its products have already been seen in Hollywood movies and TV series such as "The Hunger Games," "The Mummy," and "Westworld." The XT series, a classic from KLARUS LIGHTING, features a dual-switch design at the end, which quickly activates the functions "One-Key High" and "One-Key Strobe," making it excellent for rescue and outdoor operations.

KLARUS LIGHTING has provided us with an upgrade of their XT series. In this review, we would like to introduce you to the XT2CR PRO in more detail. In the image above, the model KLARUS XT11 is shown at the top and the new XT2CR PRO at the bottom.

Scope of Delivery

Included with the KLARUS XT2CR PRO flashlight are:

  • KLARUS 4000 mAh 18650 battery
  • Case
  • Charging cable (USB to USB-C)
  • Pocket clip
  • Lanyard
  • Replacement O-Ring
  • Multilingual manual.

The functionality of the lamp is described in detail and understandably in the instructions. However, much can also be discovered through experimentation.

Features

The XT2CR PRO is designed to be as compact as possible with dimensions of 131 x 26 mm and a weight of only 143 g. The flashlight is robust for all purposes and any weather, as it is made from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy 6061-T6 and features military-grade hard anodization class III. Inside the flashlight, there is a dual spring mechanism. This makes it drop and shock resistant from a height of 1.5 meters.

The XT2RC PRO is rated IPX8, meaning it is fully protected against water ingress during continuous submersion.

The XT2RC PRO is a compact self-defense tool made of stainless steel that leads to quick breaking with three ceramic strike beads with glass window. Its robust construction makes it an ideal emergency tool.

Only the end cap is removable.

The pocket clip can be removed via the end cap.

There are two eyelets on the end cap where the lanyard can be attached.

Carrying Options

The XT2RC PRO can be carried in various ways. KLARUS LIGHTING offers several options for this.

The flashlight can be carried in your pocket or on your belt using the carrying clip. Quite classic.

The included nylon case can be attached in various ways.

For example, it can be attached to a belt (max. 60 mm wide).

Attached to a laser-cut MOLLE field.

Additionally, it is MOLLE/PALS compatible and can therefore be attached to any tactical vest.

For the XT2CR PRO, KLARUS LIGHTING offers a suitable quick-draw holster. The model AH3 has been introduced to you in our review.

Power Supply

The fast charging function via Type-C allows for rapid charging of the 4000 mAh battery.

The charging time is usually about 2.5 hours. The longest runtime is stated to be 72 hours. The XT2RC PRO is compatible with two CR123A batteries. However, this may affect brightness and settings.

Red indicates the charging process, Green means the battery is fully charged.

The flashlight can also be used without a battery. The XT2CR PRO is connected to an external power source. Subsequently, the end cap is tightened. Then, press the AUX button (the switch on the side, not the round one) to turn on the light or switch modes. For continuous operation via the power connection, the end cap must be removed.

Light and Runtime

The light source used is a Luminus SFT-42R LED that emits white light.

Operation of the XT2RC

The development of the end caps is already well advanced. In the picture on the left, you can see the end cap of the KLARUS XT11 from 2014, and on the right, the end cap of the XT2CR PRO with the TAC MASTERS system. The TAC MASTERS system developed and patented by KLARUS LIGHTING allows immediate access to all important operating modes and is characterized by intuitive control.

The end cap with the main switch (round button) and the AUX switch (flat side switch) is ergonomically shaped to fit the thumb.

Easy operation of the buttons with and without gloves.

The main switch in the classic design of the tail switch responds extremely quickly to clicks. Tap once for high beam, press and hold for momentary high beam.

The AUX switch features an ergonomic design that allows for quick handling and ensures rapid response. With this button, you can switch through all modes from LOW to TURBO. If you press the button longer and firmly, STROBE is activated. Double tapping allows you to switch between SOS and beacon.

CONCLUSION

The XT2CR PRO from KLARUS LIGHTING is a solid and robust flashlight. Its modes are optimally coordinated for tactical applications, and its two end cap switches work flawlessly. The XT2CR PRO is designed for professional users who require high light output, rapid handling, and robust reliability. It has a range of up to 230 m. Additionally, it reaches up to 2300 lumens. Overall, it offers very good value for money.

The KLARUS XT2CR PRO is available directly from the KLARUS Store or from retailers like TACSTORE for 89 euros
