The ongoing modernization of the vehicle fleet of the German Armed Forces does not spare even the most well-known and proven workhorse. With the contract being signed at the procurement office of the Bundeswehr, the aging light truck (LKW) of the WOLF type will be replaced by a modern vehicle specially designed for military applications.
These vehicles not only represent a pure regeneration of the older WOLF type vehicles, but also make an important contribution to Germany's timely fulfillment of NATO obligations. The WOLF successor is highly off-road capable and designed for the transport of up to four soldiers with complete personal equipment and weaponry in the command vehicle and military police vehicle variants.
Through the contract, the framework for the procurement of several thousand light trucks with a permissible total weight of 4.5 tons has been established, which can be flexibly utilized according to requirements until the end of 2032. In addition, important services for logistical support and training purposes are also being ordered.
The delivery of five vehicles for validation purposes is already planned for this year in 2024, so that the delivery of series vehicles can begin in the 4th quarter of 2025.
