The best tool is the one you always have with you, and the WNDSN MIL/MOA "Dog Tag" Range Calculator takes this saying literally - HERE we briefly introduced it. By customer request, WNDSN has developed a variant of its popular MIL/MOA range calculator (MMC) HERE in the review - in classic military dog tag format. This is the smallest usable range calculator, a tool that belongs around the neck of every adventurer and shooter.
The Dog Tag Range Calculator was designed for both professional and leisure use, allowing the user to input MIL or MOA from a scope with a reticle and determine the distance to a target with known dimensions. Estimating and guessing in distance measurement is eliminated, thus allowing for accurate measurement without mental calculation errors under stress.
The WNDSN Dog Tag Range Calculator is made of black anodized aluminum according to U.S. standards for identification tags and weighs almost nothing. Like all WNDSN products, it features laser-engraved scales and instructional symbols to form a self-contained tool. The backside was intentionally left blank, so the user can either place the range calculator on the back of regular identification tags or add additional information, Velcro, fuzzy material, or luminous markers.
"How far is my 3.5 MIL, 12-inch target?"
The device's scales are unitless, meaning the user can input MIL or MOA on the left side and if the known value is in meters, input meters on the S scale for object size and read the resulting distance in meters on the D scale. If the object size is in feet, enter feet and read as feet. To convert the result from feet to yards, divide the value by 3. If the target size is given in inches, the inner (left) S scale is used, which is divided into 3 feet per 12 inches. When inches are entered this way, the resulting value on the outer (right) D scale is read in feet.
For angular sizes below 1 degree (1° = 60 minutes or MOA), the Dog Tag Range Calculator provides increased precision by allowing direct input and calculation in MIL (milliradian) or MOA. The calculator can thus be used as a companion to WNDSN telemeters with long-range and high precision; the same principles for calculating distances from angular size are used, only with the Dog Tag Range Calculator, the reticle and measurement are not done with the naked eye on the instrument, but the input values come from reticles or similar instruments.
Under certain conditions or in cases where laser rangefinders tend to fail or lead to errors, WNDSN telemeters are advantageous and can be used as first or second opinion tools to check values obtained through other means or in precarious situations where other methods fail, are unavailable, or are contraindicated.
The instrument bears the markings of the WNDSN manufacturer. Operating instructions are engraved and supplemented by a printed guide in English and German. A 400-page comprehensive printed manual is available separately from WNDSN or through bookstores. The Wndsn Dog Tag Range Calculator is available directly in their shop for 25.99 euros.
