MHRS stands for Mission Helmet Record System and is the thing on the helmet that makes it look like a Mohawk helmet. Confessed about at SEALs in Afghanistan 2010. What exactly is this MHRS now? We'll tell you.

In principle, it is nothing more than a video camera that can record up to eight hours of footage. It was specifically designed for units that need to record important mission or reconnaissance data from house searches. The whole thing is manufactured by the company Wilcox Industries and consists of the following parts:

– NVG Mount
– Mini Day Camera with 3 LED Light System
– Recording Module with 8 GB Compact Flash Drive
– Modular Power Cable
– Power Supply Module
– NVG Retaining Strap
– AN/PVS-15/17 Eyecup with Prism and Mini Night Camera
– Microphone

This means that during the day, recording can be done normally through the lens, which is housed in the NVG mount, and at night by means of the special prism with the view through the night vision device. The whole system is modular and can be expanded or reduced. For those who want more detailed information HERE is the PDF to admire from the Wilcox website. HERE you can find more technical data at TNVC.
