The US courts will soon be dealing with the question of whether Heckler and Koch owns the rights to the external appearance of the MP5 – or not. German Sport Guns (GSG) has filed a lawsuit seeking 16.5 million US dollars in damages, alleging that Heckler and Koch's US subsidiary forced them into a settlement and a product change in a 2007 case involving the MP-5-like .22lr firearm GSG-5 or GSG-522 under false pretenses of owning the design rights.
