Blackwater

Almost everyone has heard the name before. For some, Blackwater is a synonym for the rise of private security companies, for others, it represents ruthless profiteering at the expense of human lives. The events of September 16, 2007 in Baghdad have tarnished the company's image so negatively that it was renamed Xe Services in 2009, and in 2011 - after the departure of founder Erik Prince - to Academi. However, this company no longer plays the leading role once held by Blackwater. In the USA, companies like DynCorp and Triple Canopy have filled the gap, while from the UK, Aegis and Blue Mountain have received lucrative contracts.
