The US Air Force has decided to keep the A-10 Thunderbolt II flying until 2040, as it serves as the best Close Air Support platform with its low stall speed and robustness. The Air Force is now sourcing necessary parts to maintain the aircraft.
Good news for ground troops: the Air Force has decided that the A-10 Thunderbolt II (alias Warthog) should continue flying until 2040 and is now trying to source the necessary parts for it. There seems to be currently no aircraft in the US arsenal that can provide a comparable (low stall speed and robustness) Close Air Support platform.
