Marc Zierden has made it his life's work to save the lives of people and dogs – or to train others to do so. With his company Airborne Medical Group, he is active worldwide. Whether as a tactical medicine instructor, a professional armed security guard, or a competitor in the TECC Games, Marc is on the side of those who are prepared.
But that is his reality today, he tells Moritz on the LRM podcast (German language). His life used to be very different.
At just 19 years old, he was in the Congo. Shortly afterwards, he was deployed twice to Afghanistan. Like many young men, he wanted to experience what he had trained for – and prove himself. What Marc and his comrades went through there is hardly remembered by the civilian public. Even back then, people often didn't really pay attention to news reports about booby traps and fallen soldiers.
Or was much of it perhaps not communicated to the same extent?

In any case, Marc went to war. And war is something you have to be able to endure.
Soon, camaraderie, performance, and the recognition of the troops count for more than any words from home.
And at some point, you suddenly don't want to leave anymore.
