FALCONCLAW:

Thermals in summer

Thermal imaging devices remain effective in summer, though the closer ambient temperature to body heat makes human figures less distinguishable. A recent investigation by FALCONCLAW highlights performance variations across different price ranges, emphasizing that identification becomes challenging at greater distances with lower-end models.

Many people ask: "How well does a thermal imaging device work in summer?" This question has been asked often to our friends at FALCONCLAW. As they, like us, want to share knowledge, they have collected a lot of footage over the past few months and investigated this question. The answer up front is that it still works very well, but since the ambient temperature is closer to body temperature, the human as a heat source does not stand out as much anymore.

Also very interesting, at the end of the video they show a short comparison between different price ranges of thermal imaging devices. Cheaper ones, so under €1,000, work to some extent, but identification becomes difficult beyond 300 m.
