Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), the Ulm-based armaments company Elbit Systems Deutschland and Elbit Systems Land have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further deepen their strategic cooperation.

The background is the modernization and capability expansion of the European Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS). Elbit will bring a modern portfolio of effectors to meet the demands of MLRS users, ranging from extended-range rockets to training ammunition. This will enable the user to also train joint fires.

Yehuda "Udi" Vered, General Manager of Elbit System Land, commented: "We are pleased to collaborate with KMW in the field of rocket artillery. I believe that this initiative is synergistic and contemporary given the leading expertise of the companies involved and the growing demand for long-range precision firearms."

"I welcome the cooperation with Elbit. With this partnership, we underline the potential of our MLRS. The associated capability expansions make this artillery rocket system one of the most modern worldwide," said Ralf Ketzel, CEO of KMW.
