The US Army is seeking a manufacturer for a new Infantry Squad Vehicle that must accommodate nine soldiers, be light, agile, and transportable by helicopter. Similar to Polaris' DAGORs, the ISVs aim to meet military standards, fit in Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters, and navigate steep slopes. Designed for safety and mobility, the Army plans to procure 100 vehicles per year starting in 2020. According to the solicitation, the US Army is now looking for a manufacturer for a new Infantry Squad Vehicle. The ISV must accommodate nine soldiers and their equipment, be light and agile, and be transportable by helicopter.
The requirements are similar to those of the DAGORs from Polaris, which are already in use by the Army (including with the Jagdkommando).
The features of the new ISVs are intended to meet current US military and NATO standards, as well as be compatible with the UH-60 Black Hawk's lift capacity and the interior of the CH-47 Chinook. They should also be able to navigate slopes of up to 60 percent. They are designed to be usable in all climates and in adverse weather conditions.
The ISV is designed as a light, highly mobile, open group vehicle that ensures soldier safety through high battlefield mobility and a roll cage. Starting in 2020, the US Army plans to procure 100 vehicles per year - up to a total of 2,065 vehicles.
You can find the solicitation with all details HERE.
