Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban continues to position himself as a potential mediator to end the war in Ukraine, even though Russian President Vladimir Putin has already rejected mediation or serious negotiations. Orban's goal may be to draw Western attention to potential peace talks, undermining European support for Ukraine.

Orban's calls for negotiations and a Ukrainian peace formula are separate efforts with different goals, while Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown he is not interested in a negotiated solution, only expecting a surrender from Ukraine.

On the night of July 5-6, Ukrainian forces attacked the energy infrastructure in the Krasnodar region using drones.

The complete Russian Offensive Update 845 is available directly from UNDERSTANDING WAR.
