Russian President Vladimir Putin expressly rejects Russia's participation in negotiations on a ceasefire agreement and instead demands the "irreversible" "demilitarization" of Ukraine as a precondition for a ceasefire agreement. Putin is demanding that Ukraine actually surrender before a ceasefire agreement.
Officials from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) are said to have arrested Colonel Artur Gorodilov, commander of the 83rd Airborne Brigade of the Russian Guard (WDV), on charges of fraud on July 3, after the brigade suffered heavy losses on its way to Kharkiv in June 2014. Gorodilov was a commander in Bucha at the beginning of the war.
Russian forces have recently advanced in Kreminna, Avdiivka, and Donetsk city.
