Russian President Vladimir Putin's information campaign on June 14 about Russia's alleged "willingness to negotiate" under extreme conditions, which would amount to a capitulation of Ukraine, successfully confused the purpose of the World Peace Summit initiated by Ukraine on June 15 in Switzerland.
According to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, the aim of the summit was to enable a multilateral dialogue to achieve "a just peace based on the United Nations (UN) Charter and international law." With his information campaign, Putin tried to sabotage the summit, partially succeeding by shifting the international debate to Russia's absence from the summit, instead of giving summit participants the opportunity to pursue their goal of gaining international support for Ukraine and its efforts to end the war through the broader international community.
