The Ukrainian forces have made gains northeast of Kharkiv, pushing Russian troops into a defensive position. Russian efforts in southern Ukraine, Donetsk, and Luhansk have stalled.
The Russian forces did not make significant advances anywhere in Ukraine on May 11, but the Ukrainian forces have gained more ground northeast of Kharkiv. The Ukrainian counteroffensive north of the city of Kharkiv has pushed the Russian troops into a defensive position, requiring reinforcement and resupply measures to prevent further advancement of Ukrainian forces towards the Russian border. Russian efforts along the southern axis and in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions have also stalled, with the Russian forces facing successful Ukrainian defense and making no significant progress.
The Russian forces may launch a new push towards Bakhmut after the capture of Popasna to secure access to the highway north to Sviatohirsk. The Russian forces are also trying to consolidate their positions in the western Kherson Oblast to advance into the Mykolaiv Oblast.
