The Russian military leadership is moving troops to the Ukrainian-Russian border near the Kharkiv Oblast, potentially for combat operations or reinforcement. Chechen Spetsnaz commander Apty Alaudinow claimed units were being relocated towards Kharkiv. Visit UNDERSTANDING WAR for more information.
According to reports, the Russian military leadership is relocating an unspecified number of troops to the Ukrainian-Russian border area near the Kharkiv Oblast.
However, it is unclear whether the Russian military leadership intends to immediately use these relocated troops for combat operations or deploy them to reinforce the northern troop formations to bring them closer to their planned end strength. Chechen commander of the Achmat Spetsnaz, Apty Alaudinow, claimed in an interview with the state Russian television channel RT on June 8 that Russian authorities had decided at the end of May 2024 to relocate parts of the Achmat Spetsnaz from unspecified areas towards Kharkiv. Alaudinow claimed that the "Kashtan" Division, formerly known as the "Kamerton" Division of Achmat and named after its new commander, was operating towards Kharkiv.
