According to reports, the Russian military deployed a battalion of the 76th Airborne Division to the Kursk region as part of a larger Russian effort to assemble an operationally significant force for a possible future Russian offensive operation against northeastern Ukraine and the city of Kharkiv.
Reports suggest that the Russian military is preparing to form a Northern Task Force from parts of the Leningrad Military District (LMD), which will primarily operate in the direction of Belgorod-Kharkiv.
European intelligence services have warned their governments that Russia is planning "violent sabotage acts" across Europe as part of a "more aggressive and concerted action" against the West.
