The Russian armed forces are conducting a tactical encirclement movement in Avdiivka to create conditions that will force Ukrainian troops to withdraw from their positions in the settlement.
The Ukrainian armed forces have not fully withdrawn from the settlement yet, and continue to prevent the Russian armed forces from making greater progress than their current incremental advances. Geolocated imagery released on February 15 shows that Russian forces have recently advanced to the southern edge of the Avdiivka coke plant in the northwest of the city. Additional geolocated imagery released on February 15 shows that Russian forces have taken a fortified Ukrainian position south of Avdiivka, which has long been a sub-tactical target for the Russians.
During the night of the 14th to the 15th of February, the Russian armed forces conducted a series of missile attacks on Ukraine.
