UKRAINE: THE SITUATION 667 - DECEMBER 21, 2023

The text discusses how the failure of Russian operations in Ukraine to achieve Putin's goals can only be maintained with Western support. Despite Putin's attempts to erase and incorporate Ukraine, the country has resisted under the pretext of denazification, demilitarization, and neutrality. The previous failure of Russian operations in Ukraine to achieve the maximalist goals of Russian President Vladimir Putin is not a permanent condition, and only the continued support of Ukraine by the West can ensure that Putin's maximalist goals remain unattainable.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated on December 20 that Putin has already failed in his main goal, "to erase Ukraine from the map and incorporate it into Russia." The Russian military has not been able to force Ukraine to surrender to Putin's maximalist goals: under the pretext of "denazification" replacing the Ukrainian government with one acceptable to the Kremlin, under the pretext of "demilitarization" destroying Ukraine's ability to resist future Kremlin demands, and under the pretext of Ukrainian "neutrality" taking away Ukraine's right to choose its diplomatic and military partnerships.
