The ongoing Russian offensive operations in the Avdiivka area, Donetsk Oblast, reportedly suffered setbacks in the vicinity of the city on October 13.
Russian sources indicated that Russian forces continued to attack areas north and south of Avdiivka, and geolocated images released on October 12 and 13 showed Russian forces advancing south of Krasnohorivka (5 km north of Avdiivka) and southeast of Pervomaiske (11 km southwest of Avdiivka). Russian sources also published conflicting reports regarding earlier claims from Russian sources that the coke plant in Avdiivka was under Russian control, and at the time of publishing, ISW could not find evidence that Russian forces control the coke plant.
Ukrainian military reports indicate that Ukrainian forces continue to repel Russian attacks around Avdiivka. A Russian military blogger noted that Ukrainian forces are using minefields to slow the Russian advance on Avdiivka. A Russian volunteer from the 4th Brigade of the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) (2nd Army Corps, Southern Military District) claimed that worn-out guns were affecting the accuracy of Russian artillery near Avdiivka - a complaint about Russian artillery that ISW had previously learned from Russian sources.
