UKRAINE: THE SITUATION 565 - SEPTEMBER 9, 2023

The Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed advances in Donetsk-Zaporizhzhia and Zaporizhzhia Oblast border areas, with alleged advances south of Bakhmut. The Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed advances on September 9 in the border area of Donetsk-Zaporizhzhia Oblast and in the west of Zaporizhzhia Oblast, as well as alleged advances south of Bakhmut.

Geolocated footage released on September 9 shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced northwest of Novomayorske (18 km southeast of Velyka Novosilka) along the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts, where according to Russian sources, the fighting has intensified in recent days. Additional geolocated footage released on September 9 shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have also advanced northeast and east of Novoprokopyvka (13 km south of Orichiv) and west of Verbove (20 km southeast of Orichiv) in the western Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have achieved unspecified successes south of Robotyne (10 km south of Orikhiv). A Russian military blogger close to the Kremlin claims that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have forced the Russian forces to withdraw from Andriivka (9 km southwest of Bakhmut), and another prominent military blogger claims that Andriivka is now a contested "gray zone." Ukrainian officials report that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have also achieved an unspecified success south of Klyshchyvka.
