UKRAINE: THE SITUATION 562 - SEPTEMBER 6, 2023

Ukrainian Armed Forces make progress in western Zaporizhzhia Oblast, advancing towards Bakhmut. Russian Armed Forces conduct offensive operations in various areas. The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued their counterattacks towards Bakhmut and the western Zaporizhzhia Oblast, making progress in the western Zaporizhzhia Oblast on September 6.

Geolocated footage shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced along the trench line west of Verbove (about 20 km southeast of Orikhiv), and the Ukrainian General Staff reported that Ukrainian forces have achieved unspecified successes towards Robotyne-Novoprokopivka south of Orikhiv. The Ukrainian General Staff also reported that Ukrainian forces are successfully continuing their offensive operations south of Bakhmut.

The Russian Armed Forces have conducted offensive operations along the Kupjansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, near Bakhmut, along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line, and in the western Zaporizhzhia Oblast, advancing in some areas on September 6.

According to Ukrainian and Russian sources, the Russian Defense Industry Base (DIB) is facing increasing challenges in acquiring basic materials necessary for weapons manufacturing, in addition to the known issues in rebuilding stocks of precision weapons.

Russian forces conducted a large missile and drone attack on Ukraine overnight from September 5 to 6.
