The Ukrainian armed forces continued their counteroffensive on at least two fronts on August 7.
The Ukrainian General Staff reports that Ukrainian forces conducted offensive operations towards Berdyansk (area west of Donetsk and east of Zaporizhia) and Melitopol (area west of Zaporizhia). Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar reports that the fighting continues south of Bakhmut and that the eastern Ukraine was the epicenter of hostilities last week. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted in an interview with the Argentine news agency "La Nacion," published on August 6, that the pace of the counteroffensive is slower than expected and stated that Ukraine must exercise patience if they want to win. Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian armed forces are in the offensive phase of operations and continue to have the initiative.
