The Ukrainian Armed Forces continued their counteroffensive on August 3 in at least three sectors of the front and reportedly advanced in some areas.

The Ukrainian General Staff reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continued their offensive operations towards Berdyansk (border area of Zaporizhzhia-Donetsk Oblast) and Melitopol (western Zaporizhzhia Oblast), and Ukrainian authorities state that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance towards Bakhmut. Ukrainian Director of Planning in the Main Directorate of the National Guard, Colonel Mykola Urshalovych, stated that Ukrainian forces advanced up to 650 meters into Russian defenses along a 1.5 km front towards Melitopol. A Russian military blogger claims that Ukrainian forces have advanced near Mykilske (27 km southwest of Donetsk) in the western Donetsk area. Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov stated on August 3 that there is neither a fixed date nor a schedule for the Ukrainian counteroffensive. Danilov added that Russian defense lines along the front remain heavily mined, with three, four, or five mines per square meter in some areas.
