The Ukrainian Armed Forces launched counteroffensives in two sectors on June 20, according to the Ukrainian General Staff. The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted counteroffensives in at least two sectors of the front on June 20.
The Ukrainian General Staff reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are continuing their offensive operations at the administrative boundary between the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk oblasts as well as in the western part of Zaporizhzhia oblast.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that units of the Eastern military district repelled four Ukrainian attacks near Orichiv in Zaporizhzhia oblast and in the western part of Donetsk oblast. Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar reported on June 19 that Russian forces had deployed significant forces to halt the Ukrainian offensives, complicating Ukrainian advances. Malyar added that the ongoing Ukrainian operations have multiple objectives not limited to territory liberation, and that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet begun the main phase of the counteroffensive.
