On August 26, 2022, Russian forces failed to make territorial gains in Ukraine, conducting unsuccessful ground attacks. The IAEA reported reconnection of ZNPP to the Ukrainian power grid by likely Russian actors.
The Russian forces did not achieve any territorial gains in Ukraine on August 26, 2022 for the first time since August 18, 2022. However, the Russian forces conducted limited and unsuccessful ground attacks on the eastern axis on August 26.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that unspecified actors (likely Russian forces) reconnected a part of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to the Ukrainian power grid on August 26. The Ukrainian nuclear company Energoatom mentioned that unidentified actors are working to increase the capacity of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The Russian forces still have full control of the power plant, although it is unclear why they reconnected the unit.
